More Detailed Description:

Mini Musicians: Classes for Babies and Toddlers

(3 months - 2 years)

These popular classes for babies and toddlers are FUN, ENGAGING AND  EDUCATIONAL.

We use songs, rhymes, movement, peekaboo games, lap rides, finger play, instruments, puppets, teddies, bubbles, the parachute, the rainbow ring, scarves and more as children and their parent/carer are exposed to high quality multi sensory musical experiences.

Children in these classes range from 3 months to 2 years. We deliberately keep the babies and toddlers together as the younger children learn so much from their slightly older peers, while the older children experience being 'leaders' of their class. Cost is $80 per term for face to face lessons. Children turning 2 in 2025 remain in this class until 2026.

Class times for 2025: Tuesday 9:15-9:45; Thursday 9:15-9:45

Little Learners: Classes for 2 - 3 Year Olds

(for children who turned 2 by December 31, 2024)

These 30 minute classes continue to be loads of fun! Each child assisted by an adult works through half an hour of carefully sequenced material. One of the main focuses is on helping children to develop a steady beat sense as we work with songs and rhymes, fingerplays, counting games, play on instruments, dance and move to music. There is also a focus on pitch work, to refine each child's awareness of various pitch levels - essential to in tune singing.

To assist learning and to maximise the sensory experience we continue to use teddies, the parachute, scarves, our rainbow ring, bubbles, singing books and more.

These classes are great for musical development, but also help with: language development; listening skills; social emotional development; cognitive development; fine and gross motor skills; building confidence and more....

Cost: $110 per term.

Class times for 2025: Tuesday 9:55-10:25; Thursday 9:55-10:25

Mighty Music Makers: Classes for 3 - 4 Year Olds

(for children who turned 3 by December 31, 2024)

Our classes for 3 year olds run for 30 minutes. Children at this age start to become more self-sufficient as they work alongside their peers. Some children are happy to work independently from Week 1, others feel more comfortable with adult assistance.

We continue to focus on helping children to further develop a steady beat sense as we work with songs and rhymes, fingerplays, counting games, play on instruments, dance and move to music. We also start to explore the element of rhythm, which not only helps musical development but the development of language skills. There is a continued focus on pitch work, to refine each child's awareness of various pitch levels. The keyboard is introduced; always a favourite with the children, to assist the exploration of various pitch levels and directions. Teaching accessories such as scarves, teddies and the parachute are used as a valuable tool in further enhancing the teaching/learning experience.

Cost: $110 per term.

Class times for 2025: Tuesday 10:30-11:00; Thursday 10:30-11:00

Kinder Keys: Classes for 4 - 5 Year Olds

(for children who turned 4 by December 31, 2024)

These 45 minute lessons are designed to thoroughly prepare children for future instrumental tuition. We continue to have a lot of fun through stimulating games and activities that are designed to help children gain deeper understandings of musical concepts and skills. It is a great year of learning in which children start reading rhythm and pitch progressing from notating with 'bears' at the beginning of the year to normal notation towards the end and with a solid understanding of concepts that are quite advanced. Children also practice skills that are highly beneficial for school such as one-to-one correspondence and left to right reading.

The children spend time each week working on the keyboard. During this time they explore the keyboard orientation, improvise, play rhythmic patterns, work on pitch levels, and start to read musical notation. Although a keyboard at home is beneficial, it is not yet essential. As in all our other classes, our 4 year old classes are not only great for musical development, but also help with: concentration; language development; listening skills; social emotional development; cognitive development; fine and gross motor skills; building confidence and more...

Cost: $165 per term.

Class time for 2025: Tuesday 4:30 - 5:15; Wednesday 3:45 - 4:30

First Year Keyboard Classes

(for children who turned 5 by Dec 31, 2024)

Our keyboard classes are designed to provide children with a stimulating and comprehensive introduction to learning an instrument. Within each hourly lesson we spend a component of the lesson at the keyboards, as each child works at their own pace through an age appropriate piano book. The rest of the lesson is spent working on concept development through games and activities. These children do need a piano or keyboard at home on which to practice. There are many good options available at reasonable prices.

Keyboard/piano lessons are a wonderful introduction to any future instrumental tuition. Children learn to read music on both treble and bass clefs, which will allow them to transfer more easily to any other instrument they choose in the future. The piano/keyboard itself demonstrates patterns inherent in musical pitch, which further assists children in gaining knowledge for musical development.

These classes are highly beneficial for musical development, and also help with: concentration; developing listening skills; encouraging discipline; building confidence; social emotional development; cognitive development; fine and gross motor skills and more.....

Cost: $220 per term.

Class times for 2025: Monday 4:45 - 5:45; Tuesday 3:30-4:30

Second Year Keyboard Classes

These classes are predominantly made up of those children who have already completed the first year of keyboard lessons with the school. We continue to spend around 20 minutes at the keyboard, and children work at their own pace through the keyboard books starting off where they finished previously.

This year we also continue with general music, taking this to a more advanced level and enabling children to master some quite advanced musical concepts. We reinforce known rhythmic and pitch elements and extend literacy skills through the introduction of new rhythms, intervals and other musical concepts.

Cost: $220 per term.

Class times for 2025: Wednesday 4:30 - 5:30; Thursday 3:30-4:30

Third Year Keyboard

In these classes, one of the major focuses is on note reading, and children at this level become far more proficient in this skill. Children in this class also start to use traditional musical terms such as crotchet, minim etc, which will help them make the transition to private instrumental lessons.

We also continue with general music, taking this to an even higher level as children gain understandings of more advanced musical concepts.

Cost: $220 per term.

Class times for 2025: Monday 3:45 - 4:45; Thursday 4:30 - 5:30
